Does anyone have any recommendations of restaurants on the water in the Brewster/Orleans or nearby areas?

Hi NaturegirlNJ-
There are not a lot of restaurants in Brewster/Orleans area on the water. Never eaten there but the one place on the water that comes to mind is the Orleans Inn http://www.orleansinn.com/. It overlooks the town cove.
If you don%26#39;t mind not being on the water, Mahoney%26#39;s on Main St. Orleans is very good. Brewster Fish House is also very popular (but not on the water). Get there early because the place is very small.
You can also enjoy a casual meal at Liam%26#39;s at Nauset Beach-awesome onion rings.
One of our favorite places is The Beachcomber in Wellfleet. You can sit at the outside bar, which literally overlooks the ocean. Love their lobster rolls.
Have fun.

What%26#39;s your budget?
Cost no object, then fantastic food and views at The Ocean House in Dennisport.
If you%26#39;re in Hyannis, there%26#39;s Baxter%26#39;s Boat House, Tugboats and Spankys all very casual and on the water.
Mattakeese Wharf - Barnstable harbor. Try to get a table before sunset. Can%26#39;t comment on the food.
If you going for more than a few days then I have a recommendation for you.
we will be there for a week. We don%26#39;t want anything super expensive but will pay for good food. Casual and good food is good too. Just want to be outside in the sun eating and having some cool drinks on the water.
You might head up to Provincetown for the day. There are plenty of restaurants overlooking the water and the people watching can%26#39;t be beat!
If you don’t want to go as far as P-Town (although I do recommend it) I can think of a couple in Wellfleet: ‘The Bookstore’ looks out over Wellfleet Harbor (very nice for a sunset) and the Beachcomber sits on the dunes and looks out over the open Atlantic (although the view is most obstructed by the dunes). Both places are just average when it comes too food – but they have amazing raw bars and they’re both nice places to sit around and enjoy a cocktail in the sunshine. Mayo Beach (by The Bookstore) is not so nice but the beach below the Beachcomber is probably one of the most stunning on the entire Cape - so don’t forget your beach bag.
Coming from NJ to Brewster without going the extra few miles to P-Town would be like going to Buffalo, but skipping Niagra Falls, or going to Bar Harbor without seeing Acadia National Park.
Anyway, I add my endorsement of the Beachcomber, as well as just about anyplace in P-Town.
Captain Cass is in Rock Harbor Orleans with proximity but not much of a view to Cape Cod Bay. Mac%26#39;s Seafood is on the water in Wellfleet (Harbor) and is very casual with picnic tables outside.
Another place you might want to consider is The Dockside in Hyannis. It is overlooking the Marina in Hyannis....a spectacular view...very close to Baxters (previously mentioned). Tugboats is also a cool place to sit outside and enjoy the view...it is also located on the Hyannis Marina....near Baxters and The Dockside.
Thanks to all of you for your sugggestions. I am looking foward to checking these places out. Particular thanks to ccc for your very lengthy and informative pm.
I will be meeting the rest of the family on a Monday, they will be there from Saturday to Saturday. They typically go to Ptown the first day so I will be missing that excursion but I have been many times before. Also, fyi, my husband and I got engaged at Acadia National Park and will be going back for our 10th Anniversary in September.
I%26#39;ll second the recommendation for the Bookstore in Wellfleet--one of our favorite spots although the food isn%26#39;t quite as good as it used to be.
The Ocean House in Dennisport is terrific and has a great view. And it%26#39;s probably about 15 minutes from Brewster.
Beachcomber is a blast.
Here%26#39;s another idea: Take some beverages down to a bay beach late in the day and then go off to one of the many great restaurants in Orleans or Brewster. Or go to an early dinner and get back to the beach to watch the sunset.
Enjoy! The weather has been incredible this month and today is going to be a hot and humid one.
Bookstore Restaurant is in Wellfleet. Good seafood. Right across from Mayo Beach.
