Harvard - Summer? and Hotel?

We%26#39;re planning a visit to Boston in June and are thinking it might be nice to stay near Harvard instead of downtown Boston. We have two young children so would ideally like somewhere with a pool and also close to public transport - subway. I read that near the T line would mean we could get into Boston easily but am not sure which hotels in the Harvard area might suit. Also, will the area empty out for Summer? we thought it might be nice to stay somewhere with a bit more of a ';village'; than big city feel.

Thanks so much.

Boston does not clear out for the summer. It is busy with tourists and regulars.

Cambridge, Harvard area, always seems to be busy. People seem to know exactly where they are going, everything moves smoothly.

The Charles Hotel is right in the Square. The Sheraton Commander is on the Cambridge Commom. Both are minutes to the red line. Not sure about the pool.

Cambridge is your town for sure. It%26#39;s a very quick and easy ride into Boston on the red line, and, as noted, Cambridge does not at all feel empty in the summer. The Charles Hotel has a pool.

Just be aware that Harvard Square doesn%26#39;t feel like any villiage you might be imagining.

Down around Bow and Arrow Streets you will get the Village atmosphere. There is a hotel at this end of the Square. I believe it is The Inn at Harvard. This leads into Harvard Yard and close to the river.

There are a few pubs and a little bit of everything.
