We%26#39;ve got our annual boys weekend the first weekend of June. Although we%26#39;re all Jays fan%26#39;s from Toronto, we%26#39;d really like to see a game at Fenway and tour the city. The past couple of years we%26#39;ve been to NY and Philly and had a great time. This year we%26#39;re going from the 4th through the 7th.
We%26#39;re mid-thirties and want to see a game, do a day of golf, the Freedom Trail, Samuel Adams Brewary, and hit some decent restaurants and nightclubs/bars/pubs to perhaps chat with some fine Boston women.
Any recommendations on hotels (say $300 per night budget), restaurants, and of course some thirty-something bars?
Thanks!

Far and away the best deal I%26#39;m seeing for 4 adults is what is likely the InterContinental on Hotwire for $139/night...which is the 4.5 star in the Quincy Market/Financial District zone with amenities of smoke free, restaurant, fitness, high speed internet, business center, pool, and spa. For this price, you could get two rooms within your budget, or use the leftover cash to live it up while in Boston! Check betterbidding.com for Hotwire strategies...
Apart from that, the other options are more money, but still within your budget:
Nine Zero @ $224/night on hotels.com- Part of Kimpton chain and located right on Freedom Trail. This hotel will pricematch this rate if you call them directly. Be sure and join the InTouch rewards program for a few extra perks like late checkout, setting your room preferences, welcome amenity, and earning credit towards free nights.
The Colonnade @ $265/night on easyclicktravel.com- Newly renovated hotel in Back Bay. 15 minute walk to Fenway. Join the rewards program and you may receive a free upgrade to a HUGE suite (700 sqft, based on availability). This hotel will pricematch the rate directly on easyclick (I%26#39;ve done it myself).
Omni Parker House Executive Suite - Booked on their website for 4 adults, it averages out to $319/night, but using the Mass Value Pass massvacation.com/valuepass/greaterboston.php you should be able to get another 25% off of that rate which would bring the nightly rate down to $239.25 + tax. You will have to call and speak with a representative at the hotel directly to see.
I see the Renaissance is $169/night on their website, but this is in the South Boston Waterfront area. This is a brand new hotel, but the location is not exactly ideal from a tourist perspective.
I will let the locals chime in on the other aspects of your stay...

This golf course looks awesome, I%26#39;m not a golfer don%26#39;t go by me, but I have to tell you, I%26#39;m hooked on their scenery on their website of the Boston skyline, so check this place out just the same:

This one in Brookline has a good deal for golfers:

If you do the Freedom Trail, you%26#39;ll have to go to the Warren Tavern located at 2 Pleasant Street in Charlestown for a drink:

Max %26amp; Dylan%26#39;s Kitchen %26amp; Bar located along the Freedom Trail is another place that you need to check out, especially your age group! My niece was there about a month ago and really liked it there a lot. This time of year the Tavern On The Water has a deck that would be nice to hang out at in the Charlestown Marina. Also look for the Navy Yard Bistro behind Store 24, the only thing is I think they%26#39;re only open for dinner, but I%26#39;m not sure where they have a patio there for the nice weather, you%26#39;ll have to check it out by walking around there to see for yourself, yes a lot of girls will be here, there and everywhere! Canal Street near North Station has tons of pubs %26amp; bars and of course Faneuil Hall Marketplace %26amp; from there you can check out the North End, head to one of their Cafe%26#39;s like the Cafe Vittoria located at 290-296 Hanover Street. In the nice weather, they open their whole place up like in Europe, it%26#39;s pretty neat now in the nicer weather, especially early in the late afternoon to early evening after dinner or even to just have a latte or two:

Enjoy your time in Boston! If you can get a deal for the Intercontinental Hotel then go for it! Jury%26#39;s in the Back Bay is a TA favorite, it used to the the Boston Police Headquarters and it was renovated in to this beautiful Jury%26#39;s Hotel. If you can get a deal for that hotel? GO there. You%26#39;ll be in the Back Bay, which is quite nice having Newbury Street, Copley Place %26amp; the Pru shops right there. You can always hop on the ';T'; (subway) for Faneuil Hall MarketPlace, the North End and that area of Boston %26amp; in two seconds you%26#39;d be there, believe me. You just have to figure out where you want to stay.
Try to book a Duck Tour or get the hop on hop off trolley for the first day as soon as you get here if you can, that way you%26#39;ll get a good idea of the lay out of the City. It%26#39;s small and compact, but where you%26#39;re checking it out for the first time, it will be a good idea to do that at first.
Just my two cents, enjoy your visit %26amp; have a great time!
As for the Sox game, you can purchase direct from www.redsox.com (although at the moment no tix ar for sale for that game -- keep checking back on that site) or resellers that seem to be reputable are: stubhub.com and aceticket.com.
Wow, that was quick. You guys sleep down there in Boston? Seriously, thanks for the quick feedback and the good info. I%26#39;ll be sharing it with the other guys tomorrow to decide where to stay, etc.
Looking forward to seeing your fine city.
Cheers,
The possible glitch in your plan is getting tickets for a Sox game. Although tickets are sometimes released online as the game gets closer and there are some held for sale at the box office on the day of the game, there is absolutely no guarantee that you will get them.
If you are coming during a certain time and absolutely have to have them you should check out the official reseller, AceTickets.com.
Hey TO_Trouble,
Sounds like a fun weekend, and you%26#39;ve gotten great suggestions so far. A few more things. You%26#39;ll be here June 5th and 6th, and you might want to check out Harpoon Brewery%26#39;s ';Summer Session'; Festival. It%26#39;s loads of fun (I%26#39;m in my 30s, too, and we%26#39;ve been going for years). Sam Adams is cool, but this could be a more fun and lively substitute for a group of guys. www.harpoonbrewery.com/index.cfm?pid=28567
Also, for hotels - I%26#39;d go the Jury%26#39;s route or check out the Liberty Hotel, with either one you%26#39;ll be in hotels where there are great bars which skew older than the college crowd and are more geared to late 20s and 30-somethings. My friends and I go to Cuffs in the Jury%26#39;s hotel often after work and on weekend nights (and it has a patio) and the lounge at the Liberty Hotel, while pricey, is very nice and popular. Jury%26#39;s is in Back Bay, Liberty Hotel is in Beacon Hill, and both are excellent locations for out of towners looking for nightlife, restaurants, and all that good stuff.
Have a blast, and let us know if you have more questions!
