Can you give me hotel suggestions?

We are heading to Boston area for 10 days. We want to spend a couple of days near the cape and then head towards Boston. We can%26#39;t afford the prices in Boston itself. We are looking for a room that is between $100-$130 per night and we need 2 queen beds. We%26#39;d prefer to have one that included breakfast. One with a shuttle to the subway would be ideal.

Try the Holiday Inn Express-Boston St. It%26#39;s in a pretty dumpy industrial neighborhood, but it%26#39;s close to the T, has free breakfast and should be in or very close to your price range. It gets good reviews here on TA, and I%26#39;ve had friends and relatives stay there and they were very comfortable.

You might also consider B%26amp;B%26#39;s, since you are looking for something in the $100-130 range.

As so many others suggest--it is NOT worth your money or time to try to stay outside of Boston and commute it.

I would suggest the John Jeffries House %26amp; the Beacon Hill Bed and Breakfast. Both are located in lovely Beacon Hill.

Very safe. Very nice. Lots of quick inexpensive places to eat around there %26amp; you are right near mass-transit.

But, at this location, you just walk everywhere.

You will be less stressed too.

We are traveling with 2 kids, so B%26amp;B%26#39;s aren%26#39;t really suited for us. The John Jeffries house looks great, but we%26#39;d need 2 rooms.

I checked the Marriott in Quincy. It is just on the other side of the interstate from the Hampton Inn Braintree that I found great rates at (and it only has double beds).

Any other ideas?

And could you give the ages of your children.

So, you are looking for a ';guest suite'; situation?; where your kids might stay on the couch and you in the bed? And all of you share the bathroom?

The dates we are going to be in Boston (area) are July 18th - 23rd (check-in/out dates). 2 Adults 2 kids and we always get hotels with 2 queen beds (not double beds). I%26#39;ve never used a hotel bidding service and am not really comfortable with that. Also, I need to be able to cancel w/o any penalties. As I mentioned before, I%26#39;d prefer a hotel that includes breakfast.

KateOK, The kids are 9 %26amp; 12. We are used to hotels like the Hampton Inn with 2 queen beds. The only suite type hotel that we have stayed in before is a Residence inn, and we like those. But we do need the 2 queen (or king) beds as opposed to a sofa bed. Our girls have a hard time sharing a bed.

Ok.

So you want one room, two queens, with breakfast %26amp; a shuttle to mass transit into the city.

But, you don%26#39;t trust the travel search engines...

The first suggestion you got , which is to look into the Holiday Inn Express, is probably the best one.

When I want really good prices, I CALL.

I would call Holiday Inn Express, speak with a sales rep, not just the booker. And I would see what kind of deals can be struck. I do it all the time.

I would also call Priceline %26amp; Travelocity.

I%26#39;ve had great experience talking and negotiating on the phone with both of these travel engine sites.

They are trustworthy, from my experience.

are you a AAA member?

I am %26amp; have used their sales reps to help me find inexpensive places to stay along a route.

They give really nice discounts.

Also, is there an ';inexpensive'; travel company locally with you? Liberty Travel, that sort of thing.

They can get better rates for you sometimes.

I%26#39;d check with them.

And I do use Travelocity, Expedia %26amp; Price Line, especially for air travel. Never ever had a problem.

They are all decent.

I would at least run them , if it were me, just to see what kinds of hotels and rates might come up for you.

I have checked the Holiday Inn Express mentioned and they have double beds.

I do use those websites to research hotels and prices. I just like to pick my hotel directly and not just say I want a 4 star hotel. I have found the Hampton Inn in Braintree and it%26#39;s a good price. I just don%26#39;t know how easy it is to get into Boston from there. I posted another question about that but only got 1 response.

It%26#39;s always a good idea to do a little research on your own to decide if a hotel is worth staying at. You like the Hampton Inns, so this one appeals to you. You ask how difficult it would be to get into Boston from there. You need to read the reviews of the hotel to ascertain whether or not the shuttle service is acceptable, since you are relying on it. I read a few reviews and all travelers seem to say the hotel provides good shuttle service to the nearest T station. Therefore, it seems like a good place for you and your family. You get the queen beds, free breakfast and the good shuttle service.

The hotel is located about 10 miles south of Boston next to a busy Interstate. The shuttle will take you to either the Braintree T station or the Quincy Adams T station, where you will hop on the subway for the ride into town. Plan on it taking right around 30 minutes to get you into/out of the city.
