Boston St Patrick's Parade

I am hoping to visit Boston next year for St Patrick%26#39;s Day but want to know if the Parade is parade normally held on the 17th March or the Sunday before. Also if anyone has any recommendations on where to stay ie area or specific hotel open to suggestions.

Thanks x

The parade is now always on Sunday. The parade route is not in the Downtown Area, but areas in Back Bay, near Copley Square, can be walkable to there. Of course, you can always take the T from anywhere in the city.

This year the weather was ideal for a parade.

Thanks for the info it has helped, what happens on St Patricks day itself is there bands etc on in the Irish bars etc? Or is it just a normal day as the celebrations have taken place on the Sunday with the parade?

Thanks x

Bars get really crowded very early, many have music, and those that do charge fairly high covers, so it can be difficult to bounce around.

It can be really fun or a huge headache, depending on the specific bar and your tolerance level for knuckleheads. Unfortunately, an Amateur Hour vibe can prevail.
