10 Year Anniversary

My wife and I will be in Boston for our 10 year anniversary for the weekend. We are staying at the Intercontiental Hotel. Would love to get any and all advice for must see, must eat at. Been 20 years since I have been to Boston and all I remember is Boylston street has nightlife.

10 Year Anniversary

Wow..20 years. You are in for a treat. Your hotel is very nice. Close to you is The Boston Harbor Hotel. This you should check out.

What type of night life are you looking for? Dancing?

I am not sure what is still on Boylston from 20 years ago. Newbury still will have a few places still there. Daiseys, Ciao Bella, a few others.

On Charles Street...The Paramount Deli...new owners but still great.

Check out The Seaport Area. Go out the back of your hotel and down Congress.

Have a great time.

10 Year Anniversary

Depends on the mood of my wife. Some nights she loves to get out and dance and other times keeps it tame.

I am hoping the Bruins are still playing!

Thanks for the advice.

We are coming June 5,6,7.

The area that has most changed is the area where you are staying - the Waterfront. Of course, your hotel is new, but you probably knew that. Gone is the elevated superhighway (now underground), replaced by a series of parks. A great place to stroll, you can walk along the water%26#39;s edge and soak it all in. The new museum in the area is the Institute of Contemporary Art. Of course, Quincy Market and Fanueil Hall are still there an an easy walk from your hotel, as is the Italian North End. You%26#39;re going to be hard-pressed to remember to go to Boylston Street, but do that as well.

';Must eat'; is hard to answer without knowing your preferences for cuisine, budget, and ambiance. Are looking for a special anniversary dinner?

Cabinet%26#39;s right, more specific requests will yield better answers. Are you specifically looking to revisit old haunts or branch out?

We are open to eating most foods, although I am not a big sushi guy. As far as expensive. I am up to spending $50.00 per plate + drinks per person if we go do a decent place. Gotta remember we are from Minnesota not New York or LA! We are on the 10 year and I was willing to take my wife to Boston and not Minneapolis, so I want to give her a special weekend also.

Looking like we will be in Boston Friday, Sat, Sun %26amp; leaving Monday afternoon June 5-8. Going to a Sox game either Friday evening or Saturday. Staying at hotel Friday, Saturday and thinking maybe Cape Cod Sunday and getting a B%26amp;B on Sunday night flying out Monday afternoon hoping to avoid traffic.

Thanks for the help.

If you%26#39;ve been reading the forum for a few days now, you know that you just can%26#39;t walk up and buy Red Sox tickets. You have to go through one of ticket agencies and buy well above face value (which was high to begin with).

At $50 each plus drinks you will have a good number of options. One place I would recommend is Mamma Maria in the charming North End (Italian section). Don%26#39;t let the cheesy name fool you, this is a very nice restaurant that serves somewhat creative Italian cuisine and is romantic as well. After dinner walk over to the Cafe Vittoria on Hanover St. for desert and an espresso and/or cordial. You will feel like you are in Italy.

I like Pigalle for special occasions. Good french food, realtively quiet, and a really pretty room. They are offering a 3-course prix fixe for $40.

Rule of thumb around Boston, a meal for two in Boston including drinks and tip will run you a minimum of $150 at a special restaurant, but there are plenty of cheaper alternatives....check out opentable.com .You can check out plenty of menu%26#39;s there, and make a reservation ahead of time.

There seems to be a misconception at this site about ';just'; getting tix to the Red Sox; they%26#39;ve sold out every game since May 14, 2003. Be prepared to spend $$$ for a decent seat, or wait hours in line for a standing room seat, not exactly a fun way to spend a 10th aniversary.
