Freedom Trail Tour & Restaurants in Back Bay Area

Hi there,

Just looking for some advice please. Is it worth doing the guided tour of the Freedom Trail or is it easy enough to do it yourself? Also, looking for some recommendations for restaurants in and around the Back Bay area or in any of the popular areas of the city for restaurants. We are staying in Jury%26#39;s Hotel. We like Seafood / American restaurants. Any help would be appreciated.

While the ';Red Line'; of the Freedom Trail makes it relatively easy to go from site to site (except where the paint has worn off or to find some places like the Boston Massacre Site), the places themselves are really not particularly well marked and there is no description of what took place there. So the tours are really helpful in getting you to know the history and context of what went on at each site. If you don%26#39;t want to spring for a guide (even though I believe it is money well spent), at least buy a Freedom Trail Guidebook to read as you go along.
