April Staycation trip report

Inspired by wpsaukee%26#39;s trip report. A brief synopsis of my April vacation ....

Saturday, visit Aquarium followed by 3D movie Under the Sea at the IMAX. Kids squealing as creatures seem to come right at you. Awesome!

Monday, Patriot%26#39;s Day, took my usual spot along the marathon route to root all the remarkable runners! Thrilling to see Dick and Rick Hoyt, true inspirations. Great fun too, to spot a couple of my neighbors among the masses. Missed Bill Rodgers but have seen him back in the day! Way to go! Weather was colder this year and windy.

Wednesday - off to the make-up Red Sox Game after a rainy Tuesday. No trouble getting a spot at Alewife T workers quite helpful with Charlie Cards etc. Had standing room tickets under the Coca Cola bottle sign. Soon got upgraded and got to sit in Pavillion seats the whole game (since it was a makeup game in the middle of the day the park was pretty empty and many a seat went unfilled.) Woohoo. Great view and Sox won. Trying to get on the subway in Kenmore no fun, so we hoofed it and easily got on a train at Copley.

Friday - shop at Gap Outlet Watertown Mall. Very much a hit or miss, not as good as Wrentham%26#39;s or Kittery%26#39;s but convenient to get to.

Saturday - went to the Museum of Fine Arts, Arts in Bloom exhibit. If you have never done this, and enjoy floral displays, you must go. Garden clubs are each assigned a piece of artwork which they interpret through a floral arrangement. Highly recommend

Sunday -- Nice day, headed downtown, lunch at Sel de la Terre -- a couple of negatives - restaurant had plenty of open seats but hostess said we%26#39;d have to wait to be seated so waitress could catch up on parties she was currently serving. Huh? You can%26#39;t let me rest my weary feet and give me a glass of water to tide me over? After about 10 minutes another hostess came by, I explained what had happened and she profusely apologized saying that should never happen. Ordered sandwich, enjoyed bread basket with delicious bread and butter, sandwich arrived minus a key ingredient, had to send it back. Revised sandwich delicious! Strolled around and then headed over to the Volvo Ocean Race Village. Interesting talking to folks from all over the world. Saw the three top boats come in whilst chatting with other spectators and enjoying the weather.

Admittedly I am biased however, in conclusion, vacation week was great thanks to the myriad opportunities that Boston provides!
